The demand for continued and extended use of oil and gas production facilities on the UK continental shelf is likely to increase over time. This guidance aims to inform and influence duty holder approaches to the management of ageing and life extension (ALE).  The document focuses on ALE management of offshore structures and complements general management system guidance set out in the Oil & Gas UK Guidance on the Management of Ageing and Life Extension for UKCS Oil & Gas Installations, Issue 1, April 2012. The document applies to both fixed and jack-up type production installations of steel or concrete construction, and acknowledges that at the time of issue approximately 50 per cent of the fixed installations on the UK continental shelf have exceeded their typical nominal 25 year design life.
The guidance is designed to provide practical ALE guidance to structural technical authorities, design teams, engineering / operations managers, inspection contractors and Independent Verification Bodies among others. Please click on the PDF icon below to download a copy.
