How do I join the Oil & Gas UK Register of Examining Doctors?
If you would like to join the Oil & Gas UK Register of Examining Doctors then please submit an application at the appropriate link below:

If you are a UK based doctor: Application to join Oil & Gas UK’s Registered Doctors List

If you are an Overseas based doctor: Overseas Application to join Oil & Gas UK’s Registered Doctors List

Your application will be reviewed by the Oil & Gas UK Medical Adviser to ensure it meets the requirements. After it has been approved you will need to attend a Doctor’s Training Workshop.

What paperwork do I need to submit before I can attend the workshop?
You will need to complete an application form, and supply a copy of your current (within past year) audiometer calibration certificate. If you are not on the UK General Medical Council register, you will also need to provide documentary evidence of your current medical registration with your national medical registration/licensing body.
Do I have to attend the workshop?
Yes – it is mandatory for any doctor who wishes to be included on the examining doctors’ register to attend the Doctors’ workshop – details of which can be found on our events pages.
How long will I have to wait for my PIN and to be included on the register?
Your PIN will be issued to the email address you provide on your application form, and your details will be included on the publically-available website listing of Oil & Gas UK registered doctors within one week of attending the workshop and submitting all necessary documentation.
If you do not receive your PIN within one week of attending the workshop, please check your junk email folder just in case the confirmation email got delivered there instead of your inbox. If so, select the confirmation message and click Not Junk, which will allow future messages to get through.
Will I have to attend a refresher course?
No – you do not need to repeat the training course once done. However, there is an annual Oil & Gas UK examining doctor meeting/conference, and you are encouraged to attend that. Doctors who have not attended a conference at least once within 5 years will have their registration status reviewed.
Who should I contact with any queries?
Please email doctors@oilandgasuk.co.uk with any queries. If your query requires to be passed onto our medical adviser this will be done by our medical administrator (you may include ‘FAO Medical Adviser’ in the subject line of your email if you wish).
How do I get another copy of the Medical Aspects of Fitness for Offshore Work: Guidance for Examining Physicians?
You can purchase another copy of the Guidelines below. Please note, if your company is a member of Oil & Gas UK, please log in/create an account on the site to receive these items for free. Find out how to do that at https://oilandgasuk.co.uk/registration-help-page.cfm

Which other countries will accept an Oil & Gas UK medical certificate?
By mutual agreement with Norway and the Netherlands, a normal Oil & Gas UK medical certificate will be accepted in both these countries (and Norwegian and Dutch offshore medical certificates are accepted by UK sector operators). Note that restricted Oil & Gas UK medical certificates are NOT accepted outside the UK sector.
Can I ask for a decision to be reviewed?
The examining doctor should fully explain the Oil & Gas UK medical guidelines and the reason why you do not meet them, if this is the case. Should you consider that the examining doctor has not reasonably dealt with your medical assessment in accordance with the guidelines, you may contact the Oil & Gas UK Medical Adviser in the first instance. A review process may be implemented whereby three other examining doctors will review the documentation regarding your medical and comment on whether the assessment has indeed been conducted in accordance with the guidelines or not.
Who should I contact with any queries?
Please email doctors@oilandgasuk.co.uk with any queries. If your query requires to be passed onto our medical adviser this will be done by our medical administrator (you may include ‘FAO Medical Adviser’ in the subject line of your email if you wish).
