• Petrofac invests in second freefall lifeboat

    Industry training provider Petrofac has taken delivery of its second freefall lifeboat, investing £200,000 in the new model to meet increased demand for its accredited marine training courses. Petrofac is the only company in the UK with a freefall boat for oil and gas industry training, and earlier this year launched its current freefall for the 3,000th time in five years. Designed and manufactured by Dutch company Verhoef, the freefall lifeboat is located at Petrofac’s Marine Training Centre in Aberdeen.     Energy consultancy Xodus Group has delivered a review into tariffs for a landmark Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) project in the Netherlands. The review for the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy analysed proposed fees for the transport and storage requirements of the Porthos project – a joint venture between the Port of Rotterdam Authority, Gasunie and EBN – which seeks to transport CO2 from industry in the Port of Rotterdam to empty gas fields beneath the North Sea.   • Neptune extends CHC Helicopters contract

    Neptune Energy has extended its contract with CHC Helicopters, covering the Dutch sector of the North Sea, for a further two years. CHC will continue to conduct all helicopter flight transfers for personnel to and from Neptune’s 29 offshore platforms in the Dutch sector. From its base at Den Helder Airport, CHC conducts approximately 3,500 flight hours each year for Neptune’s Dutch offshore teams.     Petrofac’s Engineering and Production Services (EPS) business has been awarded a multi-million-dollar integrated services contract with Ithaca Energy. In a new five-year deal, Petrofac will integrate operations, maintenance, engineering, construction, and onshore and offshore technical support across Ithaca’s North Sea operated asset base.     Well-Safe Solutions has announced the acquisition of the West Epsilon jack-up rig from Seadrill, sparking a further job boost for the company. Built in 1993, the asset is a heavy-duty, harsh environment jack-up with an extensive operational history in the North Sea. Well-Safe will start work immediately on the newly renamed ‘Well-Safe Protector’ to undertake an upgrade and modification programme, ready to deploy the unit specifically for enhanced plug and abandonment projects in early 2021.     Dräger Marine and Offshore UK has secured a €1 million order for wireless gas detection installation at an onshore terminal. This will be the single largest Dräger installation in the UK and one of its largest wireless gas detection installations globally, and represents a significant step forward in the adoption of wireless technology within the UK energy industry.     Global completions service company Tendeka and diagnostic specialist TGT have agreed a partnership to mitigate the costly consequences of sand control failure in wells. The remedial sand control collaboration known as ‘Find Fix Confirm’ will see TGT’s Sand Flow product used to accurately identify the locations of sand ingress within the wellbore. Then, Tendeka’s Filtrex thru-tubing sand control system is used to quickly repair the damage.
