• John Lawrie completes MV Kaami decommissioning at Kishorn

    Aberdeen headquartered metal waste recycling and processing firm John Lawrie Metals has confirmed the successful completion of a first-of-its-kind project in partnership with Kishorn Port Limited (KPL). The project involved the downsizing and recycling of the MV Kaami, a general cargo vessel recovered six miles off the north west coast of Skye after running aground in March. Working to European ship recycling and SEPA regulations, John Lawrie’s team from its Evanton base in Easter Ross successfully carried out decommissioning work including the downsizing of the full structure, recovering 1,200te of material which has already been shipped for processing and recycling.   • Neptune Energy awards Cygnus remote monitoring contract to Fugro

    Neptune Energy has awarded a subsea inspection contract to geo-data specialist, Fugro, for the surveying of subsea structures at the Cygnus gas field in the UK’s southern North Sea. Fugro’s will use state-of-the-art remote monitoring technology to inspect subsea infrastructure including pipelines and umbilicals, spools and communication cables, and perform structural surveys of the Neptune-operated Cygnus gas platform jackets. ROVs will be deployed from the Edda Sun vessel to carry out the inspection work.     Subsea project delivery and execution provider Rever Offshore has announced the completion of a two-phase contract with energy major Total E&P UK. Beginning in late March, Rever undertook an onshore project management and engineering campaign, accompanied by an initial 41-day offshore operation and subsequent 10-day campaign, to conduct essential inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) work on Total’s North Sea production assets.     Drone-based inspection and asset visualisation expert Cyberhawk has secured a five-year, multimillion-dollar software contract with Royal Dutch Shell plc (Shell). The company’s iHawk platform will become Shell’s next generation visualisation software platform for all onshore, offshore and subsea assets, as well as all global construction projects. Cyberhawk, which has been working with Shell since 2012, will support the supermajor’s digital transformation strategy, providing a central platform for all digital and visual data sources.
