- Amec Foster Wheeler acquires Scopus

Amec Foster Wheeler announced that it has acquired Scopus Group (Holdings) Limited (Scopus), a market-leading laser scanning, dimensional control and lean engineering company whose precise survey data is used to engineer piping and structural solutions for the global oil and gas industry.
Headquartered in Aberdeen, with bases in international oil and gas hubs, Scopus employs about 200 employees who provide specialist engineering services to the global oil and gas, petrochemical and nuclear industries. Scopus will continue to offer independent services to its customers while building on Amec Foster Wheeler’s presence in 50 countries and extensive customer base. Read more…

- Aker Solutions wins hook-up and commissioning contract for Mariner development

Aker Solutions secured a contract from Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering to provide engineering, construction and commissioning services for the hook-up phase of the Mariner oilfield development in the UK North Sea.
The agreement is worth more than £120 million. It comes in addition to a five-year maintenance and modifications services contract awarded in June by Statoil for the Mariner field, which is set to start production in 2017. Read more…

- Wood Group secures major BP contract

Wood Group has been awarded a five year contract with an estimated value of $750million from BP. Under the contract Wood Group PSN (WGPSN), will deliver engineering, procurement and construction services to six UK continental shelf (UKCS) offshore upstream assets and the Forties Pipeline System (FPS) onshore midstream facilities in Grangemouth.
Effective January 2015, the contract will create 150 new jobs and secure more than 700 existing positions. This is WGPSN’s largest contract award in 2014 and includes an option for two, one-year extensions. Read more…

- BEL Valves partners in new hyperbaric test facility

The new ‘Neptune’ technology centre development announced this month will deliver a long needed centre of excellence for hyperbaric testing in the UK. Situated on the north bank of the River Tyne in Newcastle, the facility will be jointly owned by BEL Valves and Newcastle University. Housing six hyperbaric chambers that simulate water depths down to 4,500 metres, the facility will provide a unique mix of commercially available test facilities and a national centre for training and research for the industry.
