• E.ON E&P strengthens its central North Sea presence through Manhattan equity

    E.ON E&P has acquired equity of 22.5 per cent in several licences covering the Manhattan prospect in the UK central North Sea. The Manhattan prospect includes an exploration well to be drilled during the first half of 2015.   • Viper Subsea welcomes fourth major operator to its joint industry subsea project

    Chevron has become the latest major operator to join Portishead based subsea technology and consultancy business, Viper Subsea’s Joint Industry Project to develop its Subsea Integrity Monitoring System known as V-IR. The project, which began in October 2013, has already attracted Shell, BP and Total and the additional sponsorship by Chevron will allow for the functionality to be further enhanced as well as permitting an extended period of testing.     BP, on behalf of the Kinnoull field co-venturers, is pleased to announce the start of production from the Kinnoull field in the central North Sea. Kinnoull is BP’s seventh and final major upstream project start-up in 2014. The Kinnoull reservoir, developed as part of a wider rejuvenation of the Andrew field area, is tied back to BP’s Andrew platform, 230 kilometres east of Aberdeen, and is expected to enable production there to be extended by a further decade.     Alexandra Pate, a Robert Gordon University student, has won a competition to design the trophy for this year’s Offshore Achievement Awards, taking place in March. The brief was to design a trophy which encompassed the key themes of the Offshore Achievement Awards – innovation, creativity and out of the box thinking.     Statoil has, on behalf of the Mariner co-venturers, awarded the contract for integrated drilling and well services on the Mariner field on the UK continental shelf (UKCS) to Schlumberger Oilfield UK Plc. From its Aberdeen base, Schlumberger will deliver all the main drilling and well services for Mariner, including drilling, completion, electrical submersible pumps (ESPs), cement and fluids.     Chevron North Sea Limited has announced that it has awarded Front End Engineering and Design contracts for its Captain enhanced oil recovery (EOR) project to two UK suppliers. The Captain EOR project contract awards have been made to: Wood Group Kenny Caledonia Limited for the subsea engineering of the trees, wellheads, controls and the polymer injection flowlines to the subsea injection wells.
