- BP announces first oil from Kinnoull Field in central North Sea

BP, on behalf of the Kinnoull field co-venturers, is pleased to announce the start of production from the Kinnoull field in the central North Sea. Kinnoull is BP’s seventh and final major upstream project start-up in 2014.
The Kinnoull reservoir, developed as part of a wider rejuvenation of the Andrew field area, is tied back to BP’s Andrew platform, 230 kilometres east of Aberdeen, and is expected to enable production there to be extended by a further decade.

- Robert Gordon University student to create trophy for upcoming Offshore Achievement Awards

Alexandra Pate, a Robert Gordon University student, has won a competition to design the trophy for this year’s Offshore Achievement Awards, taking place in March.
The brief was to design a trophy which encompassed the key themes of the Offshore Achievement Awards – innovation, creativity and out of the box thinking.
The panel of judges were impressed by Alexandra’s award design, which was inspired by the underground pattern of deviated wells and will be made from a combination of stainless steel and granite. - Statoil awards Mariner drilling and well services contract to Schlumberger Oilfield UK

Statoil has, on behalf of the Mariner co-venturers, awarded the contract for integrated drilling and well services on the Mariner field on the UK continental shelf (UKCS) to Schlumberger Oilfield UK Plc. From its Aberdeen base, Schlumberger will deliver all the main drilling and well services for Mariner, including drilling, completion, electrical submersible pumps (ESPs), cement and fluids.
A total of 22 drilling and well services are included in the scope, including a logistics support responsibility that goes beyond the normal scope for similar Statoil contracts.

Chevron North Sea Limited has announced that it has awarded Front End Engineering and Design contracts for its Captain enhanced oil recovery (EOR) project to two UK suppliers. The Captain EOR project contract awards have been made to:

- Aker Solutions wins hook-up and commissioning contract for Mariner development

Aker Solutions secured a contract from Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering to provide engineering, construction and commissioning services for the hook-up phase of the Mariner oilfield development in the UK North Sea.
The agreement is worth more than £120 million. It comes in addition to a five-year maintenance and modifications services contract awarded in June by Statoil for the Mariner field, which is set to start production in 2017. Read more…

- Wood Group secures major BP contract

Wood Group has been awarded a five year contract with an estimated value of $750million from BP. Under the contract Wood Group PSN (WGPSN), will deliver engineering, procurement and construction services to six UK continental shelf (UKCS) offshore upstream assets and the Forties Pipeline System (FPS) onshore midstream facilities in Grangemouth.
Effective January 2015, the contract will create 150 new jobs and secure more than 700 existing positions. This is WGPSN’s largest contract award in 2014 and includes an option for two, one-year extensions. Read more…
