Common Data Access Limited (CDA) is a not-for-profit, wholly-owned subsidiary of Oil & Gas UK, set up to provide data management services to its members, comprising UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) licensees, and the UK oil and gas industry. Through efficient management of data, the organisation helps sustain the UKCS and keep it competitive relative to other provinces around the world.
CDA holds information on more than 11,500 UKCS wells and over 1,250 2D and 3D UKCS surveys. CDA also manages UKOilandGasData to promote and facilitate access to data and information relevant to the exploration and production of hydrocarbons on the UKCS.
CDA is the industry’s focal point for data management and works very closely with the Department of Energy and Climate Change on regulatory matters. The organisation is recognised internationally as a key component of the UK’s National Data Repository (NDR), and along with Norway’s DISKOS, as the leading example of how to establish and manage a NDR.
