  • Buchan Alpha arrives in Shetland for disposal

    The contract for disposal was internationally tendered and awarded to Veolia working with their strategic partner in decommissioning, Peterson, who have a proven safety and environmental track record in the decommissioning of oil and gas assets. The work will be carried out at the Dales Voe site in Lerwick. Buchan Alpha is believed to be the first major North Seafloating production facility to be disposed of in Scotland. Read more…
  • Xodus appoints new director to drive decommissioning strategy

    Xodus Group has appointed Enrico Salardi as its decommissioning director to lead the company’s experienced ‘decom division’ which was formed in 2015. Mr Salardi has more than 20 years’ experience in the management of oil and gas assets. He joins Xodus from operator Quadrant Energy where he was senior project manager for a number of decommissioning programmes in Australia. Read more…

  • ENGIE E&P UK announces first gas from Cygnus Bravo in southern North Sea

    First gas has been exported from Cygnus Bravo, the satellite wellhead platform in the Southern North Sea’s Cygnus development, operated by ENGIE E&P UK Limited. On the morning of Tuesday 1st August first gas from Bravo was exported 7km SE to Cygnus Alpha, which itself has been at a plateau of 250 million cubic feet per day since 13th December 2016. Combined output then travels from the Alpha processing unit, 150km off the coast of Lincolnshire, via a 55km link to the Esmond Transmission System – which ultimately lands at the Bacton gas terminal in Norfolk.   • Petrofac awarded study to improve maintenance management performance

    Petrofac has been awarded a research study from the Energy Institute’s Process Safety Committee in a bid to help improve maintenance management performance across the oil and gas industry. Under the terms of the agreement, Petrofac will conduct interviews and deliver a workshop with several international Operators, industry bodies and regulators. The purpose of these will be to assess the measures and key performance indicators (KPIs) currently used by the industry to manage maintenance. Read more…
  • NEL leads European multiphase flow measurement standardisation programme

    NEL is leading a major research programme that will enhance flow measurement standardisation across Europe between multiphase flow metrology testing facilities. The new three-year project is part of the European Metrology Programme for Innovation and Research the main European programme for the scientific study of measurement. Called MultiFlowMet II, the project involves 17 global partners, including meter vendors, research specialists and multiphase test laboratories. Project partners include OneSubsea Processing AS, DNV GL and Schlumberger Oilfield, covering the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Singapore and the UK. Read more…
  • Expro secures 26 well abandonment contract for UK North Sea multi-field campaign

    Expro has been awarded a substantial contract from global oil and gas company Maersk Oil for the provision of subsea and well test services on two offshore units in the North Sea. The contract will extend the long-standing partnership between the two companies until 2020, for well abandonment services on two rigs, for a 26 well campaign across the Janice, James, Affleck and Leadon North developments in the Central North Sea.   • Bibby Offshore completes significant decommissioning contract with Maersk Oil UK

    Bibby Offshore, a leading subsea services provider to the oil and gas industry, has announced a multimillion pound contract with a global energy player, Maersk Oil UK, to provide both late life production enhancement and decommissioning support in the North Sea. The contract saw Bibby Offshore’s diving support vessel Bibby Polaris operate at two separate locations, undertaking production system isolations and critical component replacements to facilitate late life production enhancement, together with comprehensive decommissioning support, which includes subsea deconstruction and infrastructure recovery.
